Vicki Kurtz
I have taught at Hoopa Valley High School since I was a naïve, idealist, twenty-something. My teaching assignments include: American Lit., British Lit., Composition, English I, Native American Lit., and Fitness. I have also taught Sports Lit., Short Stories, and Creative Writing and coached on many athletic fields and courts. I was fortunate enough to have enlightened mentors who made sure I participated in the Redwood Writing Project as a young and impressionable teacher. My involvement definitely shaped who I became as a PE teacher turned English teacher!
Four (five?) years ago, I was not sure I should be part of the tech team as it began to be formed; but now, I cannot believe I ever lived without these collegial relationships and the inclusion of the technology I have learned from my esteemed colleagues.

I love Closer, too! What excellent taste you have, my dear. Do you watch Leverage, too? Another connection we have? Cusp birthdays. I'm a leo-cancer cusp--which fits perfectly, I think: I'm a powerful control freak, but I feel bad about it. Finally, would you make a title for my life, please? Yours is so clever and melodious.
Moonstruck! I agree that it is the perfect movie! How nice to find someone else that appreciates it!
Another Closer lover! We should watch it together sometime.
I was driving to the ISI and there was a segment on NPR about The Closer and how there are more shows on t.v. with women leads. The women are powerful and do not apologize for their power. It was very interesting to hear producers and writers talk about how women often apologize for their power, something men never do.
